Windows Media Player is an all around good Media Player being able to play both audio and video files. The main issue with Windows Media Player is it's lack of support for different types of video files. However this can be fixed with codecs such as K-Lite Mega Codec pack. Still with VLC being able to do this by itself and so many different audio players on the market, this really is best for those who don't want to install more software or who want a media player to play all their files rather than separate software for each of their needs. I would only recommend this as your main player if you only want one player than does everything and don't want to install extra software besides codecs

Pros
  • Plays Both Audio And Video Files
  • No Need To Install Separate Features For Basic Use
  • Codecs Can Make It Play Almost Anything
  • Plays CD and DVDs
  • Free
Cons
  • Needs Codecs To Play Files Like .FLV
  • No True Audio Jukebox Feature
  • Lacks Some Features Others Have
